Telemedical rehabilitation for COPD patients

Providing rehabilitation for patients with severe COPD via the Patient Briefcase

The patient briefcase tested for monitoring and treatment of COPD patients discharged after exacerbation is also used to carry out telemedical rehabilitation for patients with severe COPD. Based on a pilot study, this solution has been a part of the daily production at OUH since January 2013 and will be the basis for a PhD study beginning in 2014.

The solution is available to the group of patients who are so weak and disabled by their illness that they are unable to attend the rehabilitation sessions that are available in the hospital.

Here you can see a short video that shows how rehabilitation via the patient briefcase takes places between COPD patients in their own home and physiotherapists in the hospital.
