Renewing Health

RENEWING HeALTH is a European health project with nine participating European regions. The project is co-financed by the European Commission (DG INFSO) with the goal of supporting a broad European cooperation at regional level within the field of telemedicine and Personal Health Systems (PHS). Overall, RENEWING HeALTH aims to systematically evaluate mature telemedicine solutions and PHS in a real-life clinical environment, and thus create a large knowledge-base that can assist decision-making processes in each region and the EU as a whole in terms of large-scale implementation of this type of services. The project will carry out scientific studies to investigate the effects of telemedicine solutions and PHS, which all will be evaluated based on a common evaluation model – MAST (Model for Assessment of Telemedicine). Close to 8000 patients are included in the project; distributed among three main chronic patient groups: COPD, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

In Denmark it is the Region of Southern Denmark (RSD) that participates in the project. RSD is running 2 projects within the RENEWING HeALTH frame: The Ulcer project (cluster 3) which provides telemedicine consultations for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and the COPD project (cluster 4) which provides remote monitoring and consultations for discharged COPD patients.
